Here it is!

Lukas has a habit, while on the phone with someone, of talking about something he's playing with, a new toy, an interesting book, and saying, "I'm playing with this" or "I got this from Grandma". He doesn't realize that the person on the other end can't see what he's pointing at. So Tom or I fill in and tell the other person what he's referring to.

Tonight he did it to me in person. He was playing in the sink, and after calling him to turn off the water and come, he came and said, "I was playing with the upper and downer." That's another subject...Lukas calls things "the turner on-er", "the spinner", and now "the upper and downer."

I hadn't heard him call anything "the upper and downer" before, but he said it was in the sink, so I guessed he was playing with the drain stopper. I said, "You were playing with the drain stopper." Lukas said, "I'll show you!" I said, "I'm not going to the bathroom, Lukas, I'm staying here on the couch." Lukas, "That's ok, I can show you!" So he runs to the bathroom while I stay on the couch and I hear from around the corner, "Here it is, Mommy, I was playing with this!"

Pity me when Lukas learns I don't have x-ray vision.
