New trick

This morning I tried giving Natalie her reflux medication by syringe to her mouth, and she did ok. The medicine is 1/2 a Prevacid solutab (it's supposed to dissolve in your mouth) and we always dissolve it in water, then suck it into a syringe and put it in her tube. Then tonight I got the bright idea of just putting the solutab in her mouth. She ate it with no problem! I'm so excited!

She's been doing really well with harder textures: she gums things up pretty well before swallowing, which is why I thought she could handle the solutab. Today she did pretty well drinking from the sippy cup. She seems to like apple juice better than apple berry or grape, but she likes milk and pediasure the best...it's the sugar, I'm sure. She still doesn't readily take fluids by mouth, as well as she does food by spoon, but she's making improvement, so we know she'll be impressing us very soon.

It is really amazing how well she's eating, when I think back to November, when she coughed on a tiny bit of applesauce or ice cream.
