Wild Animals

Whew! What a crazy weekend! Friday we went to San Diego Wild Animal Park (Tom's Friday off). We were delayed by a big-rig rollover on the 5 freeway on the way there, and on the way back we were detoured around a fatality crash near the park as well as MORE slowing on the 5 freeway on the way home. Normally the trip is 1.5 hours each way, but this time it was about 2.5 hours each way. Disneyland passes (much more expensive, but only 2 miles away) are starting to look more appealing. Next time we're going to pay closer attention to the traffic report before we leave.

But while we were at the park, we had a FABULOUS time. We haven't been there in about a year (using our passes to go to the SD Zoo instead) since the animals are farther away than at the zoo. Lukas is finally old enough to appreciate that he has to look 100 feet away for an animal, so he enjoyed this outing.

Here are some pictures of our fun day. My favorite it where Lukas is less than 12 inches from a lioness and she doesn't even see him because she is looking for the zookeeper behind him who must be bringing her food. Lukas' favorite part of the day was getting a whole ice cream cone to himself. He finished it!
