After a late night with friends over last night, I thought this morning would be hard for the kids to get up, but they were both out of bed before Tom left for work, so not much different than a regular morning (tomorrow morning, they'll probably pay for last night).
This morning we had to leave at 8 am for Natalie's new therapy schedule: 30 minutes of speech therapy followed by 1 hour of physical therapy (or reversed if the therapists need to reverse it for their other kids)...at the therapy clinic. Everything worked great. I hadn't driven in morning traffic in a long time, but all the traffic lights on the 5 miles on one street that I had to drive were synchronized, so I actually made it there in record time. It must be after 9 am that they go off sync.
Lukas and I dropped Natalie off and then went to a nearby park to play. No one else was there that early in the morning, so he had fun by himself...asking me to chase him! I did for about 30 seconds and then decided he should chase me, which he won't, but at least I'm out of the responsibility of chasing him.
Then back to the clinic to pick up Natalie and go home. The therapists said she did great: she didn't babble for the speech therapist, but she did for the physical therapist. It may mean that she needs to get more used to the speech therapist before she starts "talking". She fell asleep in the car on the way home, so I left her in the car in the garage to finish her nap.
I realized why this morning was easier than I thought it was going to be: I didn't have to pack a lunch! When we were doing two therapy sessions at CHOC a week, I always had to pack a lunch for all of us, so that made it more of a production to get out the door...and I ended up packing lunches 4 times a week with bible study and park day. Today I didn't have to pack a lunch, and we came home and had lunch with Tom.
It almost lets me get all the laundry done that I wanted to do! Today I switched out the summer comforter and sheets and washed all the mite-free linens, so it was a lot of extra loads.
