OK, here is the story of Lukas reading his first word without prompting, as told by his dad (I am sure there will be an alternate story told by Cindy, and it will be how he read “butternut squash” or “car wash”, but I am getting mine down in writing first). On the drive home from the dentist, we stopped at a gas station. After I had filled up, and was preparing to drive away, Lukas asked me if I had put diesel in the car. I told him no and that my car uses gas. He pointed to the pump and said that nozzle is for diesel. I asked which nozzle and he said the green one. The green one happened to be the one with “diesel” written above it. I asked him how he knew it was diesel and he said it starts with the “d” sound.
