Smile report

Konrad gave me another set of smiles this morning with his get-ready-for-the-day change. The rest of the day, nothing...just his normal "non-expression". I have a lot of picture of Lukas with the same non-expression, until suddenly his expression changed to mostly smiles, so I know I just have a few weeks to wait.

Last night I went to a spa for a deep tissue massage (birthday gift from Tom) that I really needed to get my back muscles straightened out again after pregnancy and childbirth. After the session, the masseuse told me I needed to "pump and dump" my breastmilk at the next feeding because the toxins in my muscles would have been released by the massage and would end up in the milk. Oops! We haven't given Konrad a bottle yet!

Thankfully, I had pumped a bottle last week that I'd saved (don't know why...wasn't planning to try the bottle for a while), so we warmed it up and Tom fed Konrad. Konrad chugged it down...he didn't seem to notice that it wasn't the normal delivery method.

Tom commented that it had been a long time since we'd had a baby who took a bottle so easily. The first four months of Natalie's life were a regular struggle to get her to take TWO OUNCES of milk at a feeding. With Lukas, he took a bottle with great reluctance, after screaming for an hour or two (Tom loved it when I went to a meeting and left him with a bottle...not!) So it was quite a novelty for us to have Konrad immediately take to a bottle.

But since I hate washing bottles, not to mention pumping, I hope that future bottle feedings will be rare.
