Last night, Lukas continued to have a fever, and I was certain that I would be up with him several times during the night, but thankfully I was proven wrong! He slept soundly until 6 am and woke up nearly his usual self: still a runny nose from last week's cold, but the fever yesterday may be a sign of a new sickness.
Since he was better, we went to Natalie's therapy this morning, where she did great, as usual. I'm hoping to report on her scores next week after we have the report that will go to the Regional Center, but I've been told that her percent of delay has decreased, so that's great news. Today she stood independently for 8 seconds, which is the best she's done in a while. Her walking (while assisted) is getting much stronger...she's bending at her knees more instead of walking stiff-legged, especially after she comes back from therapy at the clinic. I really think the time she spends on the treadmill at the clinic helps a lot, because it "forces" her to walk at a steady pace, which in turn encourages good walking form.
Lukas, Konrad and I went to a local park, one we hadn't gone to in a while. When we got there, I remembered why we hadn't returned: the playground area is still in the shade at 8 a.m., so there is dew on the slides and the bars are cold. I brought along a towel to dry off the slides, but the equipment was still cold. I sat in the sun and fed Konrad, Lukas swung a bit, then we left early to run an errand before picking up Natalie.
After we got home, Lukas and I worked on his reading lesson, then he eagerly broke out the bead set we picked up at Wal-Mart. He made me a bracelet with pretty colored beads and the letters "b" and "j" on it. Hmmm...someone might think those are my initials. I got him to add "mom" to it, but he didn't want to take off the "b" and the "j".
This new sickness could be making the rounds...I might be succumbing to it now. Time will tell! We have been healthy for so long that it's inevitable.
Lukas just brought me a necklace "with two hearts because I love you." Sigh. What a sweet son we have!
