How does one give eye drops to an unwilling child?
One parent holds the body, head and arms (Tom). The other parent (me) pries open the eyes with one hand and squeezes the drops into the barely open eye with the other hand.
This morning I clipped the fingernails on my index finger and thumb on my left hand so I could stretch Natalie's eyes open and feel more confident about not scratching her. The bottle is hard to squeeze, so it takes a lot of effort with one hand to open the eye, and a lot of effort with the other hand to squeeze the drop.
Whew! This morning went much better than yesterday...hopefully we continue to improve our technique.
