The best playground clothes

One time I was at the park with other friends with small kids, and as we were chatting, I kept looking for Lukas to make sure he was ok, and still there. :) Suddenly I realized that at this park visit, it was very easy to spot Lukas immediately, and it was all because of what he was wearing.

He was wearing a red shirt!

I've tried it a few times, and for me, when my kids are wearing red, it's much easier for me to find them in the middle of other kids they're playing with. At the last church picnic, I dressed the kids in red and white striped shirts, and it still worked. Since other kids are rarely dressed in red shirts when we go to the park to play, I'm assuming other people haven't stumbled upon this yet.

So when we go to a park, where I know I'll be talking to friends and might get a little distracted, I try to dress my kids in red so I can easily spot them. Of course, if you dress your kids in red and come play with us, I might have a hard time spotting my kids, but at least we can find each others' kids!

Dressing my kids in red for playground play works for me. Visit Shannon for more great ideas from other mommy bloggers.

I do this, too! It does make life a little simpler because I have five little ones. Now when I buy a new shirt for someone, I try to do it in a color scheme we already have. We have "uniforms" in lots of colors now, including weird ones like orange and brown. But you're right -- works for me! :)

Hey, what a great tip! I've always tried to spot them by there shirt color, but I never thought of intentionally dressing them in an easy-to-spot color. Thanks!

That's so clever! I was definitely thinking Where's Waldo too :) DIdn't Dennis the Menace also have a striped red shirt?

I in a way have the same philosophy. When going to busy places, I have both boys wear the same color. That way if one of them wanders off I know what the other is wearing!

My oldest, almost 9, within the last month asked me why he and his brother wear matching shirts (at Disneyland) or same color shirts when we're out. It is EXACTLY for this purpose. EXCELLENT!

I hear ya! Ava picked out a green swim suit this year and when we went to a BUSY water park, she was so easy to keep an eye on. She stood out. The next day she had a pink one on and she was so lost in the crowd. I wanted to put her green suit back on her.

I was going to bring up the theme park thing too, we haven't always done it, but when we do, it sure takes away a lot of stress!
