A windy park day

Tom had today off from work, so we went to Irvine Park for a family outing. The Santa Ana winds came in last night, so the weather is hot (83 degrees), dry (20% humidity) and windy (imagine a hot oven blowing in your face). We were hoping that it wouldn't be windy at the park, but it was windy (it's completely still at our house)...but not too windy. Anyway, it was NOT a prime park-going day, because of the weather, so that meant there were very few people at the park (we like to have the whole place to ourselves!)

We took Lukas' bike, and walked around for about 45 minutes while he biked, checked out a memorial, watched the ducks, then spent some time at a playground. I realized it's been a while, a LONG while, since we've been to a playground (well, except two weeks ago at a church picnic). This playground was great because it was just Natalie's size. She did GREAT on it. We think the playground for her preschool class is a similar size, so she'll get a lot of practice climbing on things that are properly sized for her. Ok, I have to say it again...I'm so pleased with how great she did.

We remembered the first time we came to this playground was right before Natalie was born, and found an old picture to compare Lukas then and now.

You'll note Natalie's electrified hair in the video...from the dry weather and wind.

Looks like you had fun, it was windy when we were there too. We are already home-it was a quick trip. I'm bummed that I didn't mention it before. I would have LOVED to meet you! We will have to try and go back soon, we have family in Torrance (sp?). So it's pretty close.
