Advertisement-free zone

Some people have ads on their blogs. You will notice that we don't. We could spend the time to make this blog make money for our family, but we don't want to do a half-way job of it, so we've never gone down that path.

Now, in the past week, we've deleted two comments from first-time commenters (with no blogger profile) that included links to other sites. Considering the context and the link, we found those comments to be advertisements....is this the new wave of spam?

We deleted both comments because we felt the only reason they commented was to drive traffic to their commercial site.

We would LOVE to have helpful links included in comments on this blog, but perhaps the only way we won't be suspicious is for you to first comment a few times without leaving a link (or, of course, if we already know you).

So that's our new policy. And we can do that, because this is our blog! :)
