I had planned for this day since last week...our cheapest annual Disneyland passes are once again useful, having passed the summer blackout period. Sarah was going to come over to watch the kids while I went to a doctor's appointment, then I was going to come home and take Lukas to Disneyland, just the two of us!
And then after a summer of below-normal temperatures, the forecast for today was 100 degrees. There were people at Disneyland today, but we weren't any part of that!
Tom suggested the Discovery Science Center, which was a perfect alternative, with the main thing being that it's INDOORS. Lukas went there when he was about 18 months, which is way too young to really get anything out of it. Today he had a wonderful time, and I enjoyed watching him enjoy the many science-related, fun activities there.
[Insert standard apology for quality of pictures taken with a cell phone, but hey, at least I have a phone that takes pictures, right?] The first is a picture of him with the Bernoulli Blower, where air keeps a beach ball suspended. The second is making a cloud. The third was some kind of dark chocolate ice cream at the nearby mall...just because it was hot and we needed a snack.
The first exhibit when we entered was an audio-kinetic machine with balls rolling around...a grand "Marble Works". Lukas could have stayed there and watched it the whole time, but I was finally able to pull him away. The other thing he played with a long time was the set of copper plumbing pipes in the play house. So the things he played with the most are similar to the things he plays with the most at home...surprise surprise!
