Old ideas are new again

Lukas has claimed that his favorite TV show is "Lamp Chop's Play-Along" which is in reruns on qubo. The current show was made in the early 90s, but Shari and Lamb Chop go back far enough that I remember watching it as a kid.

The show has a regular feature where she shows kids how to make a toy out of common household items, make a game or do a trick. In the most recent show, she showed how to take a deck of cards and make them into a construction toy. I saw the finished product and figured out how to cut the cards so they could interlock with each other.

Lukas bugged Cindy for a deck of cards we could destroy, and seriously anticipated doing this project with me. What you see is a hospital tower that was soon converted into a prison. Of course, he provided lots of narrative.

I personally enjoy the creativity of making up your own toys, and I'm excited that Lukas does too. Here's something else we did together this afternoon, but we added water!
