A nice note from the teacher

Hi Cindy,

I just wanted to let you know how fantastic Natalie is doing. I spoke to your husband briefly on the phone on Friday about how great she is doing. When she first came back those first couple days of school I noticed that she did have some words that she did not have prior to summer, but she still was a little quiet those first two days. On Friday and today she was just talking a lot. We do this Silly Sounds activity and last year she said some of the words to the song here and there, but now she is doing almost the entire song. She only missed a few words. She is singing some of the days of the week song, at snack time she is reading the "time to eat" sentence strip instead of signing and saying "eat", and she is saying her name.

I think she was a little nervous when the bus was late on Friday. While we were waiting she would look at me every so often and say "bus". I just would reassure her that the bus was coming and I would try to engage her in a different topic on conversation.
....
Natalie is really speaking much more than she did in June. It is just fantastic! I can tell that you and your family really talk to her a lot and work with her.
....
Stacie : )

!!!!!! I know that feeling of getting these notes - it's exciting in and of itself that she's doing so well, but it also adds layers of insulation against the possibility of her being underestimated at school. The bar will raise higher and higher and Natalie will reach it every time.
