Baby update

What's a blog for if not to have you, the reader, go through the same suspense as us?

Today after measuring the baby's heart rate (160 bpm), my OB wrote it down and looked at the previous records and said, "Wow, the baby's heart rate has been 160 or above the past four visits, even though the ultrasound says it's a boy."  To which I asked, "is a higher heart rate supposed to mean a girl?"  He said, shrugging, "Generally, yes, that's the wives' tale."

I mentioned that Tom had asked if there would be another ultrasound before the baby was born, since he is anxious to give away the girl's clothing that is taking up space in our garage.  My response to Tom was, "Not unless there's a problem."

Then as I was leaving, the doctor said he would do an ultrasound again in four weeks (when the baby is 28 weeks) so we would know whether to give the clothes away or not.  Now, isn't that nice?

But will that ultrasound be more definite? And Tom is pretty definite on what he saw on the ultrasound...of course, Tom also has the ultrasound pictures at work to remind him of what we saw.  And I have pregnancy brain, which means I remember very little.

That is interesting! I had a cousin who was told she was having a boy (she even had 5 ultrasounds) and the baby came out a girl! Maybe I should have waited until after you baby was born to tell you this story?
