It's Monday and Tom has gone back to work...which means I have to go back to work too!
It was wonderful to have Tom home for a week and a half to help me get into a schedule with Dominik, while also keeping the kids going to their normal activities (school and taekwondo for Lukas and therapy for Natalie)...ok, a couple non-routine doctor visits too. It would have been nice to take a whole week off from the world, but I really think the kids would have gone stir-crazy.
Anyway, first half of the first day home with only one adult and four kids...
...so far, so good!
It helped that everyone woke up on the right side of the bed this morning. My two must-dos each morning are to take a shower and feed Dominik before Tom leaves for work. If I can do those things, everything else can wait for after he goes to work. The other thing I've resolved to do (we'll see how long it lasts!) is to load the car 15 minutes before I want to leave (instead of 5 minutes as I'd slipped down to before Dominik arrived). Fifteen minutes allows time for last-minute diaper changes, lost shoes and making sure my own head is on before we leave the house.
Here's the crew loaded in the car for the ride to Natalie's therapy this morning. After dropping her off, we went to a park where Lukas and Konrad could play while I fed Dominik. When we came home, we got back into our homeschooling schedule of Lukas having school time before Natalie gets on the bus (which means Natalie and Konrad also do some pre-school activities at the table).
NOT BEING PREGNANT is a big reason I have the energy to jump back into our routine. I realize how much easier EVERYTHING is when you're not pregnant!
I know there will be hard days to come, but it's nice the kids and I shared a good first day back at work. Thanks kids!
