Every other Friday (usually), Cammie, a friend from church, watches Natalie for a few hours while I go out with Lukas, just the two of us. I try to make this a special time for him, since most of our week is spent with activities for Natalie.
Today we went to the car wash, and while the minivan was being washed, we shared a Rooty Tooty breakfast at the IHOP next door. Lukas likes going on a date with me, and he's becoming more mannerly...keeping most of the crayons on the table.
When we went back to the carwash waiting room, a man came in and said, "Good Morning." I returned the greeting, but Lukas said a little louder than me, "Good Morning!" The man said, "How are you?" Lukas replied "Doing well!" while playing with the toy vending machines. When the man left, he gave Lukas a quarter and Lukas said, "A penny!" and tried to put it in the massage chair (which takes a dollar or two). I showed him how to put it in the toy vending machine, turn the handle, and a little plastic bubble came down with a silver ring in it. Putting the ring in the bubble and taking it out kept him busy for at least an hour. I love toys that keep him busy for a long time, and then can be thrown away!
