After dinner, while still at the table, Tom reads a story from the Bible, then retells it in simpler language. Lukas has heard, for the first time, the stories of Adam, Noah, Abraham, etc. Right now we're reading about Joseph in Egypt. He remembers quite a bit from what we've read the previous nights. This evening I asked him a few questions from the Children's Catechism (who made you, what else did God make, etc). Lukas knows the first five questions, but seems to think we should read the questions to him from the catechism book. So when I asked him the questions, he said, "Where is the catechism?" I answered, "In my head," meaning I have them memorized. A minute later, after answering a few more of the questions, he asked, "Mom, did you eat the catechism?"
After dinner, we often listen to music. Tonight, Tom popped in a DVD he got for Christmas of Roy Orbison. Lukas loves to dance to music, and he loves to watch guitar players. Note the wood screws in his hands...he is joining Roy and Friends in making music. This is a great DVD because it is five-channel, so all our speakers get used...I highly recommend it!
