Growing up

Lukas has been having a defiant attitude the past couple days, especially regarding the potty. More times than not, he says "I don't want to go potty", 30 minutes after he sucked down 9 ounces of liquid, when I know he has to. Then he screams and jumps in the bathroom, leaking a little all the time. Today I've told him that holding it in will make him sick, and he's hurting himself, and he says, "no it won't!" When I finally get him to go pee, he doesn't seem to be in pain, so I'm not suspecting a UTI, except for his other behavior.

Yesterday he didn't go to sleep during his nap time (had to be shooed back to bed several times). Today he started doing the same thing, but he did fall asleep, and has been asleep for more than 2 hours. I'm always "scared" that he will finally give up the afternoon nap...every month or so, he won't sleep during his nap time, but he always goes back to it the next day. My plan is that he will still have quiet time during his normal nap time, even if he's not sleeping.

So the past few days have been challenging with strong-willed Lukas. We're waiting for a break in the storm, and we know we can't give in (thankfully there are two of us and one of him!)
