Natalie has PT and OT at home 3 hours a week, and swallowing therapy at CHOC 3 hours a week. Every other Wednesday is a vvvveeeerrrrryyyyy long day for her, where she has OT at 8 am, CHOC at 10 am, and PT at home at noon...all on the same day! It is efficient, but exhausting. Today was one of those days, and I'm glad we only have one more of them, because it's hard for her as well as for Lukas and me, with all the running around. In February, that noon PT hour will switch to every Monday for 30 minutes, which will be easier on us and actually more beneficial to Natalie, because the therapist will come more frequently.
Here are some pics from today's marathon...click on the pic to make it bigger.
With Christina, Occupational Therapist. Natalie's occupation, as a baby, is playing and eating, so Christina helps her learn to play. Here she is putting blocks in a bucket, doing "yoga" positions to build strength/flexibility/coordination, playing peekaboo with her elephant, pulling pegs out of a board while in a yoga position, and eating. Christina works on oral motor with Natalie's feeding (less quantity and more quality). This is what Lukas is doing while Natalie has therapy (although he'd rather play with Christina).
Sarah, swallowing therapist at CHOC. Sarah is feeding Natalie, then Natalie tries to feed herself, then gets a milk beard. Lukas loves playing with the markers.
With Caryn, physical therapist. Caryn works more on gross motor skills (Christina works more on fine motor skills). Here Caryn is trying to get Natalie to stand on her hands and knees, and then to right herself from a side position. Lukas has lunch and plays in the backyard (more engineering projects with found objects).
Time a nap for me too!
