Today at swallowing therapy, Natalie had another therapist sitting in on the session with Sarah, her regular therapist. It was Sarah's "mentor", and it was nice to have another therapist give a perspective, ask questions of Sarah to make sure she's considering all options with treatment, and ask me what I thought. When she left, the other therapist commented on what a sweetie Natalie is. We know!
Then a third therapist popped her head in looking for the therapist who had just left. She looked at Natalie and said, "There's a nugget!" Sarah said that therapist calls all her patients "peanut" (she works in the NICU), but "nugget" must be reserved for the extra special. I've noticed that other therapists are very friendly to Natalie, and I know it helps that she is so friendly back. Many of the kids who get therapy at the hospital have limited response, so Natalie is participating more than some.
