This morning's dressing adventure reminded me of Sunday, two days ago, when Tom told me at church that Lukas' pants were on backwards (with the zipper in the back!) I assume that they were zipped up already when Lukas pulled them on himself since he rarely handles zippers and can't do snaps or buttons on pants yet.
This morning, Lukas had his underwear and pants on when he came into the dining room, with his shirt over his head. I checked his bottoms and told him his underwear were on backwards, but his pants were on right. So he took them off and put his underwear on correctly and his pants back on. Then he put his shirt on backwards, so I helped him take his arms out again, turn the shirt around his neck, and he put his arms in. Then I checked his pants and saw that they were now on backwards (no zipper, so no big deal). I asked him to take them off and put them on properly, but he hasn't done it yet, and they'll probably stay that way.
And then there are the shoes! Tom finally showed his this weekend how "the shoes curve just like your toes", but Lukas is still putting them on backwards, albeit a little less frequently than before.
Thank goodness socks don't matter, although sometimes he does put them on so the bottoms are on top!

Ah, the joy of the beginnings of personal independence. One of the things that helped us with the shoe thing is that we told the kids that when the shows are on the right feet, the big toes can "kiss" one another. (If they are on wrong, they look they are saying "NO WAY!") That always seemed to help when nothing else did. Yay, for Lukas!

Of course you know I MEANT to type "shoes" not "shows", didn't ya?? (Oh, brother!)
Thanks for the suggestion...it's a great idea. Now I just have to decide if I want to hear "Mommy, my toes are kissing!" five times a day for the next six months. :)
