Natalie played in the sand box today for the first time and had a wonderful time. She did put a lot of the sand toys in her mouth, and got a lot of sand in her hair, but she spent a lot of time running her hands through the sand and banging toys together. Lukas still has to learn to share...he often takes toys away from her and doesn't leave her with anything, and she can't move to get new toys.
Lukas' latest thing is to say, "I'm going to jump in the shower" after playing in the sandbox...because I washed him in the shower several times when he had a boatload of sand in his hair. Today he had no sand in his hair, but threatened to put sand in his hair if I didn't let him take a shower. What to do! I will have to negotiate this in advance of future sandbox play.
Here's a pic of Lukas smelling a rose. He has learned that some flowers have scents, and expects all flowers to have a scent. He learned at a young age that roses have thorns, when he crawled under a rose bush and got stuck, with his face in the dirt and thorns in his back. Now he has a proper respect and appreciation for roses.
