The Adventures of Culvert Boy
It started out very innocently. Uncle Gary pointed out the culverts to Lukas as we walked around the lake last year. Lukas would look inside a culvert and comment on what kind of debris was inside. At first I encouraged it. When we returned home we pointed them out when we noticed them (His favorite is on an exit from the 91 freeway). This last week when we went camping Lukas insisted that we go on a walk just to see the culverts. When we drove through Yosemite there was a construction project. They were installing...culverts. I think that that was better than Yosemite Falls to him. When we returned to Uncle Gary’s, we had to stop at EVERY culvert on our walks. He would look inside and yell, and if they had a grate on them he would drop rocks, dirt or pine needles in them. Of course this could be an early sign of a future career. Professional spelunker? Engineer? Or maybe just an odd hobby.
