A-ok!

Thanks for your prayers for Natalie's outpatient visit today. She came through the anesthesia with flying colors (kept food down 20 minutes after coming out, and discharged 45 minutes after the procedure). I love how our hospital-type stays are getting shorter and shorter each time.

Natalie's larynx and esophagus appear normal. The ENT was happy with what he saw, with how she protected her airway (she was under very light sedation for his portion of the procedure), so that's great that there is no structural anomaly that has to be fixed. It looks like we will just continue to go with the e-stim therapy and expect her to overcome the trace aspirations.

Her opthalmologist checked her for glaucoma, and that came back negative too. The pressure of her eyes were low/normal. What continues to puzzle him is that she has cupping on her optic nerves. He said the cupping is often from pressure of glaucoma, but since she doesn't have glaucoma, it could be just the way she is made, or from her near sightedness. Her vision is slightly worse than the last time he saw her. I wanted him to give us a prescription for glasses today, but he wants to see her in the office again because he says it will be more accurate when she's actually looking instead of asleep. He does want her to continue to be seen by a pediatric glaucoma specialist in case something develops.

So good news all the way around...everything is normal or what we expected to find, and she came out great from the anesthesia. Go Natalie!
