Last night (our first night home) went much better for me than the two nights at the hospital because Tom was here to help. After I gave Konrad the last feeding before we went to bed, Tom got up with Konrad when he fussed after a few minutes. I think Tom was up with him for about an hour, but Konrad finally slept, and then slept well in between the next nighttime feedings. This was a lifesaver for me! In the hospital I was too sleepy to just "hang out" with Konrad when he was awake at night.
Today was a good day too...Konrad seems to be feeding well and having short wake times then sleeping well during the day. We hope for another good night tonight that might indicate a pattern. :)
Tomorrow Konrad and I have an appointment with a nurse to do an assessment on how well we're doing. I'm glad to have this appointment because I think he might have jaundice (after coming home, Lukas had to go back to the NICU for two days for phototherapy, and Natalie also had phototherapy for jaundice, but she was already in the NICU). They'll also weigh Konrad so we can get an idea of how well he's feeding (it's hard to tell how much he eats since I'm not giving him a bottle!) Today he had dry diapers for several hours, and then I breathed a sigh of relief when he pooped and peed while Tom was changing him. :)
Natalie seems to understand who "Konrad" is and of course knows he's the baby in the house now. It's wonderful that Tom can spend extra time playing with Lukas and Natalie this week as we transition so they aren't jealous of the extra time I have to spend with Konrad...yet!
