Two-year check up

Natalie had her two-year check up today. I really enjoyed it because I only took her to the appointment (Lukas and Konrad stayed home with Tom) so I could talk to her pediatrician without the distraction of Lukas constantly washing his hands in the exam room sink and perhaps over filling the sink bowl with water.

The great news is that Natalie is healthy and doing well. She weighed 25 pounds, 6 ounces and measured 31 3/4 inches. We plot these on two growth charts: the chart for RTS kids and the chart for typical kids. For RTS kids, Natalie's weight is 50th percentile and height is 25th. For typical kids, her weight is 25th percentile and height is just under 10th. My first comment was, "So she IS chunky!" Her pediatrician agreed she is a little chunky, but not too much. One of the challenges of kids and adults with RTS is becoming overweight (it's ironic that during the first year of life, the challenge is that most are severely underweight!) Tom and I agreed that we'll talk with a nutritionist about Natalie's diet to get a better idea of what quantity she should eat...we can't really rely on Natalie to tell us how much she should eat because she LOVES to eat! I also hope that once she starts walking, she won't be so chunky.

We talked about Natalie's upcoming glaucoma test and what other procedures might be done while she's under anesthesia...Natalie will see her ENT to find out if he's happy with how her ear tubes are fitting. Otherwise, there's not much else going on. She's doing great!
