Lukas loves to count down from 10 to 1 and say "blast off!" at the end. He loves this when we launch him into "outer space" from the swing in the front yard, he loves this when he starts a marble in his Marble Works toy...he finds lots of reasons to say, "ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one, blast off!"
The other night I went to a women's meeting at church and Tom showed Lukas some rocket launches from the movie The Right Stuff. I still haven't asked Tom about it and what Lukas' reaction was, but today I heard about it from Lukas. After counting down from ten to one, instead of saying, "blast off!" he said, "drop!" Then he immediately told me why: "after counting down from ten to one, the man said, 'drop' and the airplane dropped a red rocket, which took off."
This was actually the rocket that Chuck Yeager broke the sound barrier in, the Bell X-1.
BTW, Lukas doesn't want to be an astronaut...he "just wants to watch."
