Black

Cammie watched Natalie today while Lukas and Konrad and I ran some errands. Then she stayed and watched the kids while I took a nap (whew!) I feel much better!

Cammie said that as she was reading a book to Natalie about opposites, Natalie said, "black" while pointing to the black bear, and she pointed to the white bear and the black bear when asked. But she wouldn't say "black" again. Amanda, Natalie's speech therapist, said it is common for kids to say a word once and not say it again for a while.

It's exciting for me on several levels: 1) that she said a word, and 2) that she may be understanding colors. Of course, we've been working on colors a lot, but sometimes with her weird pointing (she points with her ring finger or her middle finger...yes, we're working on it to get her to use her index finger to point) it's hard to figure out where she's pointing.

So many things to work on, but as Christina, her OT said today, Natalie eventually learns every skill after we work on it a lot.
