Creative play

Lukas' quiet time rule is that he can read books, but he can't play with toys, because that tends to be too noisy (which wakes up Natalie and me). Even with books, he is often singing to himself or making noises with his mouth, but most of the time he reads to himself. He tells the story again in his own words that he's heard us read many times...I don't think he's actually trying to read the words, although he's learned enough about reading that he could!

For several days, I have woken up to this picture after my nap. Lukas told me they were kids going to school, and the blanket on the couch (his blanky that he gets for quiet time only) is the school.
