The one solicitor I do want to see...

I wrote a Works For Me Wednesday post a while back about how we avoid solicitors at our door (we have a small, unobtrusive sign) and how I really get irritated with solicitors who knock or ring the doorbell anyway.

I never thought I would say it, but there IS one solicitor I do want to see! I never would have guessed!

A few days ago, we were having dinner and someone knocked at the door. How irritating is that? (At least, for me!) We ignored the knock, but when they knocked again, Tom got up to answer the door (and I suggested he give the solicitor a piece of his mind for not reading the sign). Tom opened the door, paused, and said "no thanks" and shut the door.

Of course, I had to ask, "What was he selling?" Tom replied that he is the guy who repaints the house numbers on the street curb.

Yikes! I wanted our house number repainted because it was quite faded and smudged from tire marks. Tom went back and caught the guy before he was out our driveway.

Now that we have a fresh number painted on the curb, I don't want to see or hear from any more solicitors for another year! :)
