My solution for children's manicures and pedicures

Forget about the diapers, teething, breastfeeding, toys underfoot...you know how overwhelmed I am with keeping three kids' fingernails and toenails properly trimmed, right? Well, I've hit upon a solution that makes it a little easier.

I trim their nails outside on the lawn!

Since I started doing this, I don't have to keep track of where the little pieces of nail fly when I trim them in the house. Perhaps everyone else is doing this already, and it took me four years and three children to figure it out, but I thought I'd share in case there's even only one person out there who might benefit.

When I finish with one kid, I can call the next kid over to trim his/her nails, while still watching all the kids play. And I have been known to do my own nails outside, too.

It works for me! See Shannon's site for other bloggers' eureka moments.

If I lived to be a million, I never would have thought of that. Brilliant!

That is a great idea - I am going to tell the hubs :) He always fusses about 'nail clippings'.

Genius!!! The only other idea I've seen was on Jon & Kate Plus 8 - she had a little plasic container she held underneath their fingers, but I don't know how she kept it in place. I would think you'd need a 3rd hand! Clipping nails is such a battle with my 2 year old, I'll try anything at this point! haha!

That is a great idea. Nail clippings tend to gross me out!

When my kids were little and it was a battle to trim their nails, I'd often do it while they were sleeping, but had to keep track of where the nails fell.

We clip in the bathroom sink. The girl's happy because she gets to perch up there looking in the mirror and I don't have to chase down little nail shards!

I have been sighted giving myelf pedicures on the front porch steps for this very reason. Plus, I like to give the neighbors something to talk about. :)

Good idea. I never thought of that one! When my daughter was a baby, I used to trim her nails while she slept so I didn't have to deal with a bunch of squirming around.

This is a great idea! I hate trying to keep everything on a kleenex...there are always escapees. Thanks for sharing because I never thought of this!
