You will remember that we already started school last month. Well, today was the day that Lukas finally started his one-day-a-week kindergarten class (we're homeschooling him the other four days). He was so excited to go. I cannot say SO in big enough letters or with enough Os to emphasize how excited he was, so I'll just say "so" with one O and tell you that he was very excited and hope you understand.
I wanted to take pictures of the kids on this first day of school, but Konrad was not in the mood. He was upset that I interrupted his car playing and refused to be a part of future pictures.
But we made it to school in plenty of time (I'm already out the door with all three kids before 8 a.m. twice a week for Natalie's therapy, so what's one more day?) and Lukas enjoyed the hospitality of the older boys at the school showing him where his classroom was and where to go after he dropped off his backpack. Natalie and Konrad got in on the action (especially Natalie...she understands the concept of school and knows it's a great place to meet people) and said hi to everyone.
We came home in time for Konrad's morning nap, during which I had rare time alone with Natalie. We did some therapy homework and played games, then Konrad woke and both kids had snack. Konrad kept asking "whez Jukas?" Then when Natalie got on the bus for school, Konrad was alone with me, which is also a rare occurrence (usually I'm alone with Lukas while the other two have afternoon naps).
I ran some errands with just Konrad, then we rushed home to eat lunch before going to pick up Lukas. Konrad was very happy to see Lukas...I wondered how he would miss him, or if the whole concept of being alone with Mom was foreign. Lukas had many fun stories to tell about his first day, and he made sure to share them with his doctor, who we saw in the afternoon, and the salesperson at the children's clothing store, where we went after the doctor. Happy SECOND first day of school, Lukas!
