Saturday was the first day of Spring, so we had our second-annual Spring Egg Hunt in the back yard. As I explained last year, we want the kids to have the fun of an egg hunt, but want them to associate Easter with the resurrection of our Savior, not a bunny or eggs. Lukas remembers this from last year and has been asking WHEN we would do spring eggs...the first day of Spring seemed like a good day!
The only rule was that Lukas had to take eggs that were above eye level, so that Natalie and Konrad could find the ones lower down. Konrad was fairly comfortable carrying his own basket around, but I carried Natalie's basket so she could focus on finding and holding the eggs, and then putting them in the basket.
Of course the best part is eating what's inside! Tom and I are constantly amazed how revolted Konrad is by textures and/or tastes he doesn't like: he just spits it out. The eggs contained M&Ms, a foil-wrapped chocolate egg, and jelly beans. The unwrapped chocolate egg was the only thing he swallowed. I know he's had M&Ms before (not a lot, but some) but these M&Ms didn't pass his throat. Needless to say, neither did the jelly beans.
And it's not really a Spring day without playing in the dirt, right? Yes, that lime tree should be gone soon, very soon!
