...from going to the optometrist, ok?! I haven't counted how many times we've been to the optometrist since Natalie got her glasses about 5 weeks ago, but it must be at least 10 times. Thankfully, the optometrist is practically walking distance, although we always drive there on the way to something else.
Why so often? Well, the first reason was that the lenses kept popping out. Then once when the technician was replacing the nose pieces, she scratched one of the lenses, so a new lens had to be ordered...we got a call that it was in, only to find out it was the wrong one. Then when they put the new lens in, that one popped out again. Finally, after the lenses appear to be staying in, the frames were loose on Natalie's head, so we visited again for what I hope is a final fitting for the near future.
Just to throw a wrinkle, Tom's new job provides vision insurance, so we want to get a second pair of glasses for Natalie (both as a backup and because we're not sure the frame we have is the best for her with her moving in to the "falling while learning to walk" phase of life.) I'm planning to go to a different optometrist (one who specializes in children's frames) so I hope I don't have to visit that one 10 times before we get it right...it's much further away.
