Three Generations at Planes of Fame
A couple of weeks ago I took Lukas and his Grandpa George out to the Chino Planes of Fame Museum for a guy’s day out. The museum has many historic planes that fly, and once a month they highlight a plane(s) and the pilots who flew it. On this particular Saturday they were highlighting the F4U Corsair, which was popularized in the old TV show Baa Baa Black Sheep. My dad is an ex-Navy fighter pilot who trained in the Corsair, before he moved onto the early jets fighters. When we arrived we headed for the hangar where they were conducting the presentation with the former pilots. Lukas wasn’t interested in hearing people talk about flight training and base assignments, so we left my dad there and walked around the hangars. Lukas really liked the P-40 Tomahawk because of the shark mouth. It was very easy to get him to smile for the picture. Among the many planes there, there was a Fokker Tri-plane that was painted up like the Red Baron’s plane. Before we left they fired up the Corsair and flew it over the museum.
