Birthday party

If I were a better planner, perhaps I would have thought about the time of year my children's birthday parties would be held, in light of our small house, before trying to conceive. (Actually, I enjoy being very pregnant in the winter, since pregnancy makes you hot anyway...but that's one year, and birthday parties are for many years). Lukas' birthday is in February, Natalie's is in December, and #3 will also be in December...for those of you in colder climates, you are probably saying, "The weather is always nice in California!"

But it always seems like the nice weather is before and after our birthday parties, so we end up having them indoors, instead of outside in our nice large yard like we plan.

Today was Natalie's birthday party. Last week was beautiful and warm, then yesterday it rained cats and dogs (1.5 inches at our house), followed by a cold front. Tomorrow is supposed to be beautiful again. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised that the weather today was as warm as it was, but it was still too wet on the grass to have a 2-year old birthday party completely outside. So we had it mostly inside with a few recesses outside. Hey, I didn't go into labor today, so I should find something to complain about, right? :)

But it was a fun party and everything worked out and I didn't go into labor. Here are some pics from the event:

Natalie hanging out with her favorite person: Daddy! Yes, she got a haircut yesterday for the event.

A couple of Natalie's friends, Evan and Bella, with their moms.

Lukas and his friends, Kevin and Hannah, scoping out which part of the cake they want; and Daddy feeding Natalie chocolate birthday cake. She was very upset when the cake course was over.

Thanks to everyone who attended...Madeline, Bella, Nathan, Kevin, Evan, Hannah, Mia, Shelby, Caden, Miranda, Brennan, Bethany...it was a fun birthday for a special girl who won't be the baby in the family anymore. It was nice to have a day that focused on her, since she will soon be getting less attention than she's used to.
