Check that off!

We made it to the Orange County Fair this year! We tried to go last year but somehow other things came up and we never made it (we'd gone several years in a row previously), so we were really happy that everything worked out that we could go this year. Since Tom has every other Friday off, we really try to use those days to go to big public events, since it's usually less crowded than on Saturdays.

In a nutshell, we saw some animals, rode a lot of rides (at least Lukas did), saw some more animals, had a treat, and went home. Lukas liked finding the strawberries on the strawberry plant, as well as other fruits and vegetables on the plants in the demonstration garden. Natalie was very patient while Lukas rode a lot of rides that she couldn't ride. When we finally found one that Tom could also fit in to go with her, it turned out to be a little more wild than we expected (it went up and down and around in circles). She didn't cry, but you could tell from the look on her face that she wasn't having fun.

However, if you click to enlarge the picture of her, Lukas and Tom in the house of mirrors, you can see that she loved that. And Lukas really enjoyed the bumper boats (he was more successful in the boats than in the bumper cars).

I carried Konrad in the pouch most of the time so he could see what was going on (yes, I think his weight exceeds the recommended weight for the carrier, but what am I to do?) I think Konrad laughed at the funny faces I was making in the mirror, not at how ridiculously our image was distorted.

But despite all the rides he rode, Lukas said his favorite part of the fair was watching the goat get milked. That's my small-town- living-in-a-big-city boy!

Looks like you had a great family day! Ava and one of her cousins went in to one of those window/mirror mazes and came out with a couple red marks on their foreheads. They kept on running in to the glass. She was happy to make it out!! But it was pretty funny watching from the outside!

Ahhh, the OC Fair! This is the first year we've missed it, especially after living within walking distance for a few years. We'll see how our new home town CO fair is in just a couple weeks!
