Thanks to everyone who commented on our thousandth post! It's great to hear from you (and it's not too late to join the bandwagon, if you haven't commented yet...we'd love to hear from everyone else!) Truly, it keeps us going to know you're reading and enjoying what we post.
One of the Christmas traditions in our family is to go to a nearby city with a large neighborhood where the homes are heavily decorated with Christmas lights. We drive there, have dinner at a fast food restaurant, then hit the sidewalk in the festive neighborhood by 5:45.
It was so much fun to see Natalie's reaction to the lights...even more excited than last year, of course. Konrad just stared and wondered what all the fuss was, but Natalie seemed to notice the dioramas of kids throwing snowballs and other fun winter-related decorations. Lukas remembers many of the displays from last year (and the year before), including our favorite "tree with a million lights." That's what we call it...you'll have to watch the video below to see if you agree.
Anyway, every year I think, "Next year we'll add a few more lights to our house." But we haven't so far. It must be that two-birthdays-right-after-Thanksgiving thing...we have to put up our Christmas lights before Thanksgiving, or it's not going to happen. I definitely don't want the glitz of the houses that we see in that neighborhood, but it would be nice to have a little more.

we sort of have the same tradition, just NY style! LOL We go out scouting the Christmas lights after the Christmas Eve service. We have to stay in the car though, much too cold to walk! I put up our Christmas lights on the warmest day in November (so I don't freeze and start hating it) and then we don't turn them on until Dec. 1st.
