Party preparations

Our family hosted a party for some friends on Saturday (from which we have finally recovered!) and there was much to prepare.

Here's Lukas busily pounding nails into wood. This was a very helpful task, because it kept him occupied! And pounding nails without hitting your finger is a very important skill to learn. That's masking tape that he put around the nails that he pounded into the wood...he said he made a backyard.

The day before, Lukas helped me bake this cake. It's called Tres Leches, which refers to the three kinds of milk that you soak the cake in, before covering it with whipped cream and berries. I'd never heard of it, but Tom said we had to make it after tasting a friends' version. He obtained the recipe, and the rest is history...it was a hit! Now I have two new summer cakes, this one and Kathrin's cake.

Needless to say, we are partied out!
