In what has become an annual tradition, we drove up to Oak Glen today with some friends from church to get fresh-from-the-orchard apples. It was a blast! Here's a video of us washing apples before Tom ground them up and pressed them for apple cider (Tom has a bad endearing habit of video taping me when I'm not aware of it...I'm glad there's a video, but I wish I'd known he was taping!) You can see and hear Natalie signing and saying "cold water" and "wash".
Here's the finished product. Yum!
We also enjoyed their pumpkin patch and saying hi to the chickens (Natalie said, "Hi, chickens!" a lot).
And Lukas was fascinated with this old-fashioned wheel barrow that was obviously still being used. Very fun day! Thanks, Sarah, for planning it!
I will no longer be the "fly on the wall" type of director. For future videos I will add "quite on the set" and "action"! Better yet. A secret code word like "albatross".
What a fun day! What a great tradition too! The kids look great and look like they are having lots of fun.I continue to be amazed by Natalie. She seems very advanced. Nathan has virtually no attention span. He would not last two seconds in the apple washing stage and I would likely miss out on all the fun because I'd be chasing him down. I really do enjoy reading your blog. On a completely different note... i was required to book holidays for work for 2010 and early 2011 ( crazy I know) but we are planning a trip to Anaheim in early Dec 2010- Alyssa has her birthday in Dec and we thought doing a birthday in Disneyland would be fun. I'm hoping we can meet you when we come.
Attention span is definitely something Natalie has grown into, with a lot of effort. And it will probably be in her IEP for next year...she is doing great, but can still make improvement. Anyway, don't give up with Nathan! He might surprise you!
Absolutely we'd love to get together with you when you come down!
