Birthday weekend

Tom's Dad is turning 87 soon, so Tom's sister Patrice arranged a birthday party with all the siblings at her home.  A trip to Ventura means a stop on the way might be fun to break up the trip, so Tom suggested the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.  The last time we were there, Lukas was four months old...and we returned again six years later with another four-month-old, and a few more kids!  BTW, a lot of the exhibits are closed because they're renovating for next year's centennial of Reagan's birth.  So if you're planning to visit, check first to see when everything will be open again.

Dominik saw the museum mostly from this vantage point:

Lukas and Konrad loved seeing Marine One and going inside Air Force One.  The other exhibits being closed was no big deal for them!

At the Reagan grave site.

And then we arrived in Ventura, where Patrice and Patrick graciously let us spend the night for the party the next day.  Natalie let Jessie see the world out the window while Dominik checked out the world from his PackNPlay.

Patrick is going to do something with this bell that used to be on a steam engine...I don't know what!

Here's Tom's Dad, the birthday boy!

And Tom's Mom, talking to her youngest grandchild.

There was a lot of fire on that cake!  But it was very yummy, baked by Tom's sister Chris.

The kids made their own fun in the backyard, with the wheel barrow playing an important part.

Here are Tom's Dad and Mom, with all their children, Chris, Tom, Patrice and George.  What a great looking family!

We had such a fun time visiting and can't wait to visit again!

I was at the Reagan library shortly after he died and they hadn't opened the area where the plane was and they were doing something to the gravesite so there was a lot I didn't see. Sounds like I need to re-visit except now I don't have a sister living in Camarillo to stay with. O well, maybe one day. Looks like the kids had a great time.

It was right after Reagan died that we were there the last time too, Karen! I think it must have been around July 1, but we don't have pictures, just video.
