I spoke with our pediatrician this morning and she said Natalie's EEG did come back as abnormal. So "seizure" and "epilepsy" are entering our vocabulary now. Tom and I will have to educate ourselves on what this means, because we really have no idea. Is there a book called "Seizures for Dummies"?
Our pediatrician put in an emergency referral for Natalie to see a neurologist. Based on what we've told her (that the episodes are only 2-3 seconds long) she doesn't think there's any danger of her having a grand mal seizure before we see neurology and she gets medication for it, but it still has us worried. Natalie should get an appointment in the next 1-4 weeks.
It's a new rabbit trail! We don't know where it's leading, but we know that God will sustain us through this new adventure.

oh foo! Im sorry. You seem well, when I would probably be a mess. Natalie is doing great though, and shes the same girl she was before you knew all this.
These precious angels deal with so many issues that any "new" item to add to their conditions can be really heartbreaking but you and Tom are such awesome parents that managing Natalie's seizures couldn't be in any more capable and loving hands. Thinking of you guys!
I wish it would have been the two weeks:( however Jessica is right he is still the same Natalie that we all love :)
here's what I know your doc. Is right of all she has had are small seizures she shouldn't have a big one before you see the Nero. Doctor, Jesus had a lot of 5-10 sec seizures before he stared keppra during the time the were trying to find the right dose he had 2, seizures that lasted longer about 1 min. And he was having them more frequent for about a week and now he hasn't had a seizure in about 2-3 months! Yay! I was told that This is not common but I wanted to let u know that this was my experiance. If u have any questions or wanna talk I here for u! *hugs* you seem to be handelinh it better than me, I was a mess when I found out. Your a great mom!!
Thanks so much for your kind comments, everyone! It is shocking, but I think Tom and I knew that something was not quite right, so we're not surprised. I guess I'm really thankful that the EEG showed what was really happening...it's better to know the truth and deal with it than to NOT know and not have her on medication and then she gets hurt.
Yes, I'm thinking of all of you too. And praying for strength. My niece has epilepsy so I can help if you need me. Hugs.
We'll be praying for you all (including the doc) to have wisdom in walking this part of your journey. Give my love to your Littles!
Yay for alert parents and medical testing, yuck for the results...wish it would have been two weeks. I continue to be amazed and encouraged by Natalie's progress. I'm glad this bump in the road was caught and can be helped with a medication. Hugs to you as you travel over and leave behind this bump.
BTW we are planning on coming your way November 6-10...will any of those days/evenings work for a short get together? I guess it depends on how close/far you are from the park :) You can send me an email to let me know...
I was hoping for the two weeks! You sound so strong. And as we have learned all too well, they just keep on cruising along with each bump that comes their way. There is no slowing your little girl down! Kelly F
