Note to self: don't schedule doctor's appointments on the last day of school after a Christmas party.
I had scheduled Natalie and Konrad's checkups over a month ago, and then learned of Natalie's Christmas party about a week ago. The collision of schedules meant Konrad's nap was delayed by the party, and then cut short to go to the doctor...if he had gone to sleep as soon as we got home, he would have had an hour nap, but in actuality, he didn't go to sleep right away and then woke up after 10 minutes and cried non stop.
The result? He cried the entire time in the car, at the doctor's office (which ended up being two hours!), on the way home. Let's not do that again anytime soon!
The doctor asked me who I wanted to go first. Konrad, so he could put his clothes back on, and hopefully cry less! Konrad is 37" and 32 pounds, which are 97th percentile and 90th percentile for two-year old kids, so his stats are closer together than last year. We actually had to estimate his height because he was so uncooperative on this visit (no nap)...instead of standing on the big-boy scales, we had to seat him on the baby scales. And when it came time to stand next to the wall, we couldn't get any cooperation there either, but 37" is what I guessed from seeing where he appeared to be, and it's in line with his growth on the curve.
Natalie, on the other hand, was incredibly cooperative. She held her arm out to have a blood-pressure cuff put on (shocker...she's hated this in the past!) and stood nicely on the scales and against the wall. Natalie is 37 3/4" and 35 pounds, which are 15th percentile and 50th percentile, respectively, for four-year old typical kids. Her doctor was pleased with her growth since last year, when she was 35" and 31 pounds, which was 6th percentile and 50th percentile. So she's getting a little taller on the curve while her weight is about the same...and we had noticed that she seemed to be slimming down slightly.
Since Lukas doesn't go in for a well visit until he's seven, we won't be visiting the doctor until Konrad and Natalie have their three- and five-year check ups...except for sick visits, of course!
